About TuqueTCG
A marketplace built by a player, for players in Canada
Born from the Love of the Game
I'm a TCG player — Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, you name it. I love my local game stores and the communities they foster. But I've watched the hobby get more and more expensive over the years, and it bothers me that cost is becoming a barrier to playing the games we love.
The Cost Problem
Between rising card prices, platform fees, and shipping costs, getting into trading card games — or even staying in — keeps getting harder. Existing marketplaces take a cut from every transaction, and those fees get passed on to buyers. Playing a card game shouldn't require a big budget.
How It's Done Today
Right now, most person-to-person card trading in Canada happens on Facebook groups. And honestly, it works pretty well for trust — people use their real accounts and build reputation through a references post. You can check someone's profile, see their history, and feel reasonably confident about who you're dealing with.
But it falls short when it comes to actually finding cards. There's no way to search across what sellers have available or what buyers are looking for. You're scrolling through posts, hoping to spot what you need, or posting a want list and waiting for someone to reply. It's slow, messy, and you miss deals constantly.
TuqueTCG takes what works — the trust that comes from real identity and community reputation — and adds what's missing: a proper searchable marketplace where buyers can find exactly what they need and sellers can reach buyers directly. Signing in with Google ties your account to a real person, and your Facebook reviews link lets others verify your trading reputation. Best of both worlds: strong trust and strong card discovery.
The Mission: Accessible for All
TuqueTCG exists to lower the entry bar. It connects players directly — person to person — so you can buy, sell, and trade cards without middleman fees eating into your budget. No commissions on transactions. Listings and buy lists are unlimited for everyone. Sellers can move up to $250 a month for free. A small subscription unlocks unlimited selling and real-time alerts, and that revenue covers infrastructure costs and continued platform development. Because playing a card game should be accessible to everyone.
Built for Canada
TuqueTCG is built specifically for Canadian players. A big part of what makes this work is Canada Post — sending a few cards in a plain envelope with a stamp costs next to nothing. That cheap, reliable letter mail across the country is what keeps shipping affordable and makes person-to-person trades practical from coast to coast.
Transparency First
No venture capital, no ads, no hidden monetization. TuqueTCG is built and maintained by one developer who believes the community deserves better. Subscription revenue goes to two places: keeping the servers running and improving the platform. As the platform grows, I'll share user counts, revenue, and exactly where the money goes — because you deserve to know.
