How shipping works
TuqueTCG doesn't ship orders, sellers do, most often via Canada Post. To keep checkout simple, we publish three standard rates that sellers can offer with one click. Each is calibrated to cover typical postage and materials for the card-count range it serves.
Standard letter (PWE)
Sealed in a plain white envelope with a $1.44 stamp. The $2 default covers postage, envelope, and a penny sleeve for 1–8 cards. Untracked.
Bubble mailer (untracked)
A padded oversized envelope under Canada Post's 20 mm Lettermail limit. The $4 default covers the ~$2.61 stamp plus the bubble mailer and packing materials. Untracked.
Tracked parcel
Tracked end-to-end, most often via Canada Post. Sellers set their own price here because tracked-parcel postage varies by destination and weight. Best for larger orders or any time delivery proof matters.

Canada Post prices below are exact national Lettermail rates (letters are priced the same everywhere in Canada). Parcel services are priced by destination zone and weight, so those are typical starting ranges — check Canada Post for an exact parcel quote.

Size limits: standard letters must stay within 245 × 156 × 5 mm; an oversize letter can go up to 380 × 270 × 20 mm and 500 g. Crossing 5 mm of thickness — or adding rigidity or lumps — moves you from the $1.44 rate to the $2.61+ oversize rate.
Tracked parcel options
For anything over the 20 mm letter limit, or any time you want tracking and recourse, use a tracked parcel. Prices vary by zone and weight; these are typical starting ranges.

Handy surcharges: Signature adds $2.00; added liability coverage is $2.75 per $100 (up to $5,000). Tracked Packet, Expedited, and Xpresspost include $100 of coverage; Regular Parcel does not.

Two very different things go wrong in the mail. Match the material to the threat and you protect cards for pennies.
Scratches & scuffs
The cheap fix is a penny sleeve (about $1–2 per 100). It's the first thing that touches the card, every single time.
Corner dings & surface dents
This is what a toploader or semi-rigid holder actually solves — a hard shell against point impacts and pressure on the corners.
Bending & creasing — the real killer
A toploader does NOT stop bending. Toploaders flex and can crack, and a bent toploader bends the card with it. Real anti-bend protection is a rigid backing that spans the whole card: thick cardstock, chipboard, or rigid plastic, bought in bulk (cheap per unit). Sandwich the sleeved card between two pieces so the package can't fold.
Toploader ≠ bend protection. Rigid cardstock is what keeps a card flat.
Use
- Penny sleeve (scratches)
- Toploader or semi-rigid (dents & corners)
- Rigid cardstock or plastic, in a two-piece sandwich (bending)
- Team bag to hold it all together
- Rigid bubble mailer, or a PWE marked "Do Not Bend"
- Painter's or masking tape (removable, no residue)
Avoid
- A bare card loose in an envelope
- Tape on the card, or pushed into the toploader's mouth
- Staples through the package
- Stuffing a plain envelope past 20 mm (you lose the Lettermail rate)
- Relying on a toploader alone to prevent bending
Putting it together by card value
Escalate protection with the value of what's inside.
Bulk / low-value
Penny sleeve + a rigid cardstock sandwich in a plain envelope marked "Do Not Bend." Pennies of materials, and it covers both scratches and bending.
Mid-value raw cards
Penny sleeve → toploader or semi-rigid (scratches & dents) AND still sandwich it between cardstock (bending). A team bag keeps the stack together.
Expensive cards
All of the above, plus a tracked parcel with added liability coverage ($2.75 per $100). Untracked Lettermail has zero recourse if it's lost or crushed — never send a high-value card that way.
Tips, tricks & pitfalls
- A team bag stops the toploader from sliding out of the mailer.
- Leave a finger-notch (or don't tape the toploader shut) so the buyer doesn't tear the card getting it out.
- Rigid or lumpy mail is non-machineable — you'll pay the $2.61+ oversize rate, not $1.44. Budget for it.
- Ask for free Proof of Mailing at the counter.
- Ship Monday to Wednesday to avoid cards sitting in a depot over the weekend.
- Write a legible destination AND return address — the return address gives you free Return-to-Sender recourse on undeliverable mail.
For sellers
Configure shipping on your profile under Fulfillment. Toggle on any of the three standard rates (Letter, Bubble, In-person) to offer them at checkout. Add your own rates for anything else. TuqueTCG ships within Canada only.
- Tracked Packet (Canada Post) — Tracked small-parcel delivery, 0–1kg. Most common for card orders up to ~100 cards.
- Expedited Parcel (Canada Post) — Tracked parcel for larger or higher-value shipments.
- Xpresspost (Canada Post) — Faster tracked delivery when buyers need quick turnaround.
The Letter ($2 flat, ≤8 cards) and Bubble mailer ($4 flat, 9–25 cards) standard rates are set by TuqueTCG and calibrated to typical Canadian postage + materials. You don't set their prices, you just toggle them on or off. Your own rates are entirely yours: tracked or untracked, any card cap, any price.
Common scenarios
Ship 60 cards untracked: under Your own rates, click Add rate. Service: Other. Name it whatever (e.g. "Large bubble, 60 cards"). Tracked: OFF. Max cards: 60. Price: ~$8 (covers a heavier stamp + larger mailer). Buyers with a 26–60 card cart from you will see this option.
Skip the standard rates entirely: flip off both Letter and Bubble in your Standard rates section. Buyers will only see your custom rates and in-person (if enabled). You lose exposure for small carts unless your custom rates cover those sizes.
Things to keep in mind
- Untracked mail has no recourse if it's lost. For high-value cards, prefer tracked parcel.
- The bubble-mailer cap is roughly 25 sleeved cards (20mm thickness). Bigger orders need a tracked parcel or in-person meetup.
- Sellers ship the orders themselves. The standard rates are designed to be fair to both sides, small spreads above stamp cost cover packing materials, nothing more.
